Railroad Track Laborer

Overview:
Applicants will perform all aspects of building and maintaining railroad tracks within various industries. Work will be held to a high standard using hand tools, power tools.
This position may require candidate to work in adverse weather conditions.
NOTE: This job requires the candidate to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a pre-employment DOT Physical prior to acceptance.
This is 100% travel and is a safety sensitive position subject to FRA federal rules and regulations and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing after hired.
Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Replace, remove, and repair tracks as well as related components.
- Align and slide track tie plates and cut rails to specified lengths
- Handle drilling activities for insertion of bolts or joints
- Remove brush and other vegetation from between rails
- Perform lubrication activities on joints, angle bars, and switches
- Rebuild roadbeds and lay new rail sections
- Operate picks, shovels, bulldozers, and spike driving machines to perform maintenance and repair work on rails
- Repair or replace specific components of the rail track
- Removes and installs railroad ties, rails, turnouts, track fastenings, and track switches, ensuring the safe and proper operation of all vehicles, material, and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs; may be required to work in adverse weather conditions
- Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly.
- Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn.
- Requires good manual dexterity; maybe standing, bending, kneeling or sitting for long periods.
